This Privacy Policy explains how Focus Lounge collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our website, booking pages, pod access, Wi-Fi, customer communications, cameras, and related services. This policy should be reviewed by a Connecticut attorney before launch.
1. Who We Are
Focus Lounge provides private study pods and workspace access near UConn Storrs. This Privacy Policy applies to information collected by Focus Lounge through our website, booking platform, access-control tools, payment tools, customer communications, on-site systems, and physical facility.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with Focus Lounge, we may collect:
- Booking information: name, email address, phone number, booking date/time, pod selected, account details, and booking history.
- Payment information: payment status, transaction details, receipts, refunds, chargebacks, and limited payment identifiers. Full card numbers are handled by our payment processor and are not intended to be stored by Focus Lounge.
- Access information: QR codes, access credentials, entry/exit logs, timestamps, door events, and access-control records.
- Communications: messages, emails, texts, calls, support requests, incident reports, feedback, and reviews.
- Security information: camera footage and related security records from entrances, common areas, and other permitted areas.
- Website and device information: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, referral source, and cookie or analytics data.
- Wi-Fi and network information: connection logs, device identifiers, network diagnostic data, and security-related information if you use Focus Lounge internet.
We do not intentionally collect Social Security numbers, medical records, or sensitive health information for ordinary pod bookings. If you send sensitive information to us voluntarily, we may process it only as needed to respond, provide service, comply with law, or protect safety and security.
3. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- Create, manage, confirm, modify, and cancel bookings.
- Provide QR-code or access-control entry.
- Process payments, refunds, receipts, disputes, and disclosed fees.

- Investigate tailgating, unauthorized entry, overstays, damage, theft, disputes, chargebacks, or safety incidents.

- Protect the rights, property, safety, and security of Focus Lounge, customers, visitors, vendors, building management, and others.
4. Security Cameras and Access Logs
Focus Lounge may use video surveillance and access logs for safety, security, access control, and rule enforcement. Cameras may monitor entrances, common areas, and other permitted areas. Cameras are not intended to be placed in restrooms or areas where privacy is legally required.
Footage and access logs may be reviewed to investigate unauthorized entry, tailgating, overstays, damage, theft, safety incidents, disputes, chargebacks, or violations of Focus Lounge policies. Footage may be shared with service providers, building management, insurers, law enforcement, or legal advisors when reasonably necessary and permitted by law.
5. Payments
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. Focus Lounge does not intend to store full credit-card numbers. Payment providers may collect and process payment information under their own privacy and security practices. You should review the payment provider’s privacy terms during checkout.
6. Booking, Access-Control, and Other Service Providers
We may share information with vendors and service providers who help us operate Focus Lounge, including booking platforms, payment processors, access-control providers, email/text providers, website hosts, analytics providers, Wi-Fi/network providers, camera/security providers, customer-support tools, professional advisors, insurance providers, and maintenance vendors.
These providers may process information on our behalf or under their own terms, depending on the service.
7. When We Share Information
We may share information:
- With service providers and vendors needed to operate the business.
- With building management, security, insurers, or maintenance providers when needed for facility operations, safety, claims, or rule enforcement.
- With law enforcement, government authorities, courts, or legal advisors if required by law or if we believe disclosure is needed to protect safety, prevent fraud, enforce terms, or respond to legal requests.

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense. We also do not currently use personal information for targeted advertising. If that changes, this policy should be updated before those practices begin.

We may send booking confirmations, QR-code instructions, reminders, schedule updates, access instructions, policy notices, support messages, and security-related communications. Standard carrier rates may apply to text messages. You may request that we stop non-essential promotional messages, but we may still send operational messages related to bookings, safety, access, payments, or legal obligations.
10. Wi-Fi and Internet Use
If Wi-Fi is provided, network systems may collect connection logs, device identifiers, security logs, diagnostic information, and usage metadata. We may use this information to operate the network, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, enforce policies, and protect security. Internet service is provided as a convenience and is not guaranteed.
11. Children and Minors
Focus Lounge is not intended for children under 13 to book directly. Customers must be at least 18 years old to book unless Focus Lounge expressly allows bookings by minors with parent or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
12. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, maintaining records, resolving disputes, collecting amounts owed, enforcing agreements, preventing fraud, complying with law, and protecting safety and security.
Camera footage may be retained for a limited period unless it is needed for an incident, investigation, dispute, insurance matter, legal claim, or safety/security purpose.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, facility, network, access system, camera system, or electronic storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of information, a copy of information, or to opt out of certain uses such as sale of personal data, targeted advertising, or profiling.
Connecticut residents may have rights under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act when that law applies to a covered business or data controller. Even if Focus Lounge is not legally required to honor every request under that law due to business-size thresholds or exemptions, you may contact us and we will review reasonable privacy requests.
